The very successful third party fund raising (referring to CHE-Ranking 2003 Saarland University has the most third party funds per professor) and the large number of cooperating enterprises prove that Saarland Computer Science is very attractive for industry and SMEs. |

| Our competencies are strengthened in application oriented research by the campus located German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence and strengthened in basic research by the Max Planck Institute for Computer Science and Max Planck Institute for Software Systems, also located on the campus nearby. | |
Start up enterprises are invited by the so called Starter Centers to work directly on the campus. Thus, tight links between economy and university are most likely. Moreover, enterprises looking for university partners can work in Science Park 1 and Science Park 2 in front of the campus gates. The Science Park ist one instrument of the Saarland Government to encourage technology transfer. About 50 enterprises with about 400 employees are situated in the Science Park. |
