- Max Planck Institute for Software Systems
- German Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI)
- Center for Bioinformatics (ZBI)
- International Conference and Research Center for Computer Science Dagstuhl Castle (IBFI), Schloss Dagstuhl

All those research institutions cover a large field of Information and Communication Technology.
The most important scientific awards are held by scientists of this site. E.g. one "Zukunftspreis
des Bundespräsidenten", five Leibniz Awards, three Konrad Zuse Medals, and more. Moreover, the highest quality of Saarland Computer Science is also shown by many national and international cooperations.
A lot of IT enterprises are spin-offs of Saarland Computer Science. New foundations of enterprises are supported by the "Starter Center" on the campus of Saarland University and "Science Park I" and "Science Park II" nearby. Amongst the spin-offs are successful firms like IDS Scheer, Infor or SAP Retail Solutions.
